Ama Sah gya’wn! Welcome
British Columbia is home to over 50 First Nations communities, each with its own language, arts, and culture.
Kasiks Wilderness Resort is proudly located within the traditional territory of Kitsumkalum, one of the original tribes of the Tsimshian Nation. Our connection to the land, rivers, and coastline has sustained us since time immemorial. Archaeological evidence confirms what we have always known—our people have lived and thrived along the inland areas of the Northwest Coast, from the Skeena River to the mountains and out to the coast, for thousands of years.
“Tsimshian” (Ts’msyen) translates to “People Inside the K’syen”—referring to the Skeena River, which remains a lifeline for our people, culture, and territory. Our identity as Tsimshian is deeply rooted in Ayaawx (Tsimshian Law), which governs our social order, economic rights, and relationships with other First Nations. These laws continue to guide us today, upheld by our long-standing political system of hereditary chiefs and matriarchs. Despite the ongoing impacts of colonization, our governance, culture, and way of life remain strong and vibrant.
As caretakers of our territory, we carry a sacred responsibility to steward our lands and waters for future generations. Our connection to the Skeena River and the Pacific Coast is not only historical—it is living. It shapes our lifeways, values, and vision for the future.
Today, Kitsumkalum is growing Kasiks Wilderness Resort as a destination for visitors from near and far. Through food, lodging, cultural walking tours, and immersive experiences, we are proud to share the spirit of Tsimshian hospitality. Every visit to Kasiks is a chance to connect with the land, learn about the rich cultural heritage of our people, and experience the deep roots that make this place so special.
The Tsimshian Nation is made up of seven First Nation Tribes: Kitselas, Kitsumkalum, Lax Kw’Alaams, Metlakatla, Kitkatla, Gitga’at (Hartley Bay), and Kitasoo (Klemtu). We are one of the largest First Nations groups in Northwest British Columbia, alongside our neighbours the Gitksan, Haida, Haisla, and Nisga’a.
We invite you to learn more and let us help you plan your stay. As you explore, we encourage you to support and visit neighbouring First Nation communities that offer cultural experiences, events, or opportunities to learn about their traditions.
Travel with care—respect the land, waters, and all who call the area home. Pack out what you bring in, tread lightly, and honour the natural and cultural heritage around you. By visiting responsibly, you help protect these lands for future generations while enjoying all this region has to offer.
Travel with Łoomsk (respect).

This is just the beginning of many positive changes to come.

We are working to build a distinctive property delivering authentic Indigenous cultural tourism experiences. We welcome visitors to our territory to share in our journey as we embark on this exciting new venture.
Through our commitment to delivering superior customer service we assure our guests a comfortable stay, quality dining, meeting and event spaces, and a variety of new amenities.
